DZIQ 990 AM– Congratulations to Angela Merkel for her third term as German Chancellor who was formally re-elected Tuesday by the Bundestag (German Parliament). The 185-page coalition agreement will be signed today by the three government parties, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) with its sister party Christian Social Union (CSU) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). They will be a part of the Chancellor’s “Merkel III group”.

President Joachim Gauck will appoint Merkel’s new Ministers. Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) retains his post in Finance and Sigmar Gabriel (SPD) known as “super minister” for Economy and Energy. It is notable that for the first time, Germany got a female Defense Minister, Ursula von der Leyen (CDU). On the otherhand, Jörg Asmussen resigns as Director at the European Central Bank and State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour. It is still unclear as of this hour on what new power he will get.

– Did you know that despite the economic crisis, there are still around 2 million unfilled vacancies in the European Union? By 2015, there will be 700,000 unfilled vacancies in the Information on Computers Technologies (ICT) sector alone. The number of jobs in ICT is growing faster than finding the qualified workers for those positions.

The right to free movement and the assistance of EURES (European Employment Services,  a cooperation network of the public employment services of the European Union and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries can help people to find jobs and fill these vacancies in other European countries where skills shortages exist!

– Hello world portion: Greetings to the Flemish couple Eric and Francine Vancopenolle.

See you again on Wednesday, same time, same station. Happy Monday everyone.
