DZIQ 990 AM– Filipino communities in Belgium are continously raising funds to help the rehabilitation process of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) victims in the Philippines. One of the many organizations, COFAF  (Council of Filipino Associations in Flanders) headed by Ms. Minabelle Siason, marked the celebration of Pasko sa Brugge held in Sint-Lodewijkscollege, Sint-Andries last weekend and was a huge success. According to Ms. Siason, the fund that normally goes to build classrooms in different areas in the Philippines will be diverted to the typhoon victims.  Another group, the Maharlika Kultura Filipina will hold a gospel, rock concert tomorrow at the Grote Post in Oostende with a theme “Isang Puso’t Isang Diwa”. The organizers, Divine and Heide Mariano are expecting another full support of our fellow Pinoys in Belgium.

– Meanwhile, International donors to typhoon victims are expressing their frustrations and sadness to the outcome of some of their donations that didn’t properly reach the victims and apparently, some of these goods are being sold. How true? The United Nations should really be tough in their investigation and punish whoever is/are the mastermind of this nasty act. What a great shame!

– Christmas shopping in the center of Brugge is in full swing. Wealthy Britons are even flying by helicopter from London to Brugge for 8000 euros just to go shopping. I was so happy to see my city so full packed with tourists not only from Britain but from all over the world. To us, it means: More tourists, more euros! Good for our economy!

I am personally requesting everyone to say a humble prayer for the sister of my sister-in-law, Grace Bataller-Janas who lives in the US and will undergo cancer treatment on 24 December. My heart goes to you sis Gracie. Have more courage. You will be in our prayers.

Have a great weekend everyone. Take care. I love you all!
