DZIQ 990 AM– The Consortium 12-12 has a new donation system in use to raise money to help the Philippines. The new system was conceived and developed by Mortier Brigade and to help raise money for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. With the new system, through visualization, donors can select a piece of devastated area on an aerial photo, choose the size of their chosen field that corresponds to the height of the donated amount. The gift is immediately processed through the payment of the Consortium and after a few minutes, the devastated area turns into a re-built homes.

Erik Todts, President of the Consortium 12-12 says, “The idea came from Mortier Brigade. They have offered us this system and we found it an interesting concept.”  Todts gave assurances that this system is compatible with their online payment system and found it a good idea to implement it. The scope is larger than a dry online display system.

The action is now three days online and already picked up €4,932.50.00. Todts is hoping that the visualization of a gift will have an impact to more people to support their fund-raising project for the Typhoon Haiyan victims in the Philippines.

– UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Director Dan Toole e-mailed UNICEF Belgium and announced that he visited the Philippines few days ago and was an eyewitness to the devastation caused by typhoon Haiyan, but the help massively arrives on site.  Sonnie Evangelista from Roeselare mentioned that colleagues from UNICEF Belgium are helping the Filipino children with water and food supplements. She encourages every capable citizen to continue sending support to Typhoon Haiyan victims.

– Philippine Senator Loren Legarda is President Benigno Aquino III’s representative at the Women in Parliaments – Global Forum Annual Summit in Brussels, Belgium and will receive, on behalf of the Filipino people, the prestigious Award for Leadership on Closing the Gender Gap (Winner by Region: Southeast Asia) at awarding ceremonies that will be held today at the European Parliament in Brussels.

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (celebrated every 25th of November), Legarda will share with European women parliamentarians the Philippine experience in fighting for women’s rights and closing gender gap; their initiatives on giving Filipino women equal opportunities in all sectors of society, upholding women’s rights and eliminating violence against women and girls. She also conveys to other countries the Filipino nation’s deep gratitude for all they have given in support of their recovery efforts in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda. “With their help, we can more quickly rebuild our communities,” she added.

The Senator will also meet with EU parliamentarians and EU Commissioners on the sidelines of the Conference and join the Filipino community in Brussels for the Bayanihan for Typhoon Haiyan-Yolanda event.
