DZIQ 990 AM– Head of the UN working group Verene Shepherd investigating Black Peter, Santa Claus’ mythical personal assistant proposed to abolish Christmas parties after saying that the figure is insulting, offensive, racist and a return to slavery. After a real protest wave, Representative of the UN Human Rights Council Xabier Celaya ensures that it will not happen. In an interview with De Morgen, he reiterated that the UN is not responsible for the criticism of Miss Shepherd on Black Peter. 

–  French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel phoned President Barack Obama this week demanding clarification over claims that the US National Security Agency spied on millions of French phone calls, the German and other European leaders.
