Paris in silent mode

Paris stops breathing for a while. All public establishments are ordered CLOSE today – supermarkets, libraries, swimming pools, Saturday classes, cinemas and open market places. Very few restaurants and cafes are serving the tourists. France is declared under “state of emergency” status.

President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Chancellor Angela Merkel, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel and other world leaders are sending their full support to France following last night’s chain of attacks in Paris. Security borders of France has heightened control including neighboring countries of Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. The Schengen open borders rule or free movement of persons in European Union is currently suspended.

Paris prosecutor and police announced there are now likely 128 victims dead and death toll is still rising. Many victims are in critical condition in several Paris hospitals and clinics due to gunshot wounds and bomb explosions.

This is another Parisian trauma only ten months after the 7 January Charlie Hebdo shooting where 11 journalists died and 11 heavily wounded.

President Francois Hollande calls on French people to unite and stay calm. He describes last night’s attack “barbaric” and said, his country is solid, strong and vows to fight back without mercy.
