4th of July 2015, Saturday’s 37’C sunny wedding of my dear friend and classmate Jana Iguiron to Romanian Ionel Pisarov went perfectly well. Close friends and family members from the Philippines and other European countries attended the 10 am civil ceremony in the stadhuis (city hall) of Knokke-Heist followed by the 2 pm church wedding in Saint Antonius Kerk in Knokke-aan-zee.

The Zandberghoeve reception in Oedelem was joyous and colorful where I served as emcee for the nuptial official program composed of film showing of the couple’s recent trips and activities and receiving messages from friends and family who missed to attend the big day.

A surprise dance number headed by the bride’s sister Paula Iguiron, together with lady friends Racel, Lyn and Nenita known as “The Sexy Girls” topped the evening. They made the newly married couple smile with amazement. The messages from colleagues, friends and family were so touching and gave way to tears rolling down our cheeks.

At the Zandberghoeve – during the welcome drinks and cocktail, the guests also enjoyed the serenity of the domain and its natural beauty – the lake, the castle, the chirping of birds, the wooden bridges and century-old trees were a perfect background to pose for souvenir photos. Above all, it is impossible to unnotice and feel the undivided attention of its owner Mr. René Keerman and staff – Els, Luc, Melvin & Juan who took care of our very superb food and wine. Besides, who will resist Chardonnay Vanel des caves du sieur d’Arques à Limoux? The assorted smoked-steamed seafoods and meat with sous chef’s spices and sauces added to its flavor and enough to start filling our tummies. Main menu composed of Rosé fried duck à l’orange, vegetable bouquet and croquette. The rich variation of the dessert buffet specially the presentation of the flashing and glittering Flambatie ice-cream wedding cake dominated the “wow” words from the guests. Thank you for the excellent service. We appreciate all your efforts till the wee hours of dancing, eating and drinking. We wrapped up the night as happy and contented as the newly married couple.
